New Zealand is one of the most isolated wine producing nations in the world, capturing the world’s attention for premium wines from the Southern Hemisphere. Its Marlborough wine region is its jewel in the crown, capturing all of nature’s beauty and purity in the bottle.
Wither Hills lies at the heart of this natural abundance. The winery is named after the imposing Wither Hills ranges, which form a dramatic backdrop to our vineyards which enjoy long sunlight hours, cool nights and are nourished by the waters of the Wairau River.
Their most famous wine is the Sauvignon Blanc which has won numerous awards worldwide.
Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc
Intense gooseberry, tomato leaf, fresh cut fennel and red capsicum characters underpinned by the classically pungent melon, guava and passion fruit aromatics immediately fill the senses. The palate is extremely balanced with bright seamless acidity, concentration of brambly grapefruit, mineral lemongrass flavours and a long supple lingering finish.
Wither Hills Pinot Noir
A distinctive Marlborough Pinot Noir, made with time-honoured techniques from Burgundy. A wonderful core of spice, ripe fragrant plum and brooding forest fruits command the aromatics. The tannins are long, chewy and silky, coupled with sublime acid balance. Adding structure and natural weight to the subtle french oak spice and cocoa notes. A hallmark of Wither Hills Pinot Noir is the purity of fruit ; dark dense generous elegant flavours and subtle power.
Wither Hills Taylor River Pinot Noir
Crimson in colour with a richness that instantly reveals complexity and depth as the wine hits the glass. The aromatics are typical of our Taylor River vineyard – bold and generous with layers of wild dark berry fruits, subtle white pepper, spices and dried herbs interlaced with harmonious French oak nuances. The palate displays Taylor River’s hallmark rich layered structure with dark brambly wild berry fruits, spice and firm tannin profile.
